President's Bio
Bob Schrum was born and raised in the Richmond metro area for most of his life. He went into business for himself in 1974 as a builder and land developer. His interest in the car wash business was always strong and in 1979 he joined the ICA to do research and to do his due deligence in the car care industry.
After two years of research, Bob built his first Flagstop Car Wash in Chester, VA. It was an 80' tunnel, 6 bays of self serve wash, 16 hose gas pumper with small convenience store all on-site. Over the past 27 years, Flagstop has grown to six locations. There are three full service washes (two have lube and gift shops), all have self serve washes, an eight bay self serve and two express washes with free vacuums. Bob also does consulting work and sells car wash equipment for many types of washes and applications.
Bob admits he was blessed with great parents, a beautiful family, and a wonderful management team. He also admits he is not much of a golfer, does a little hunting—which he loves—and is very active and committed to civic work, his Rotary Club, Crime Solvers, and helping other businesses succeed. He appreciates the wonderful relationships, valued customers, and friends that he has made over the past 27 years being in the car care business, especially his friends in the Southeastern Car Wash Association.
Bob has an open door approach and welcomes all SECWA members and prospective members to call or e-mail him at anytime at bob@flagstopcarwash.com or give him a call at 804-768-0090, or on his cell at 804-731-7246 with any questions, suggestions, comments, or just to chat.
